I started classes here as a toddler. I always enjoyed coming and learning new tricks. WGC has had a great positive impact on my life as a whole. It got me active at an early age. It also spiked my competitive edge when we would have competitions for medals and ribbons. At WGC I created friendships that lasted a very long time. Coming into high school I ran into many girls I was in gymnastics with over the years. I created many memories there from countless hours of practice, fun, and the camp and sleep-over! I will never forget the fun I had there and it's impact on my life will forever be with me. Rebecca Pittman |
I started gymnastics at WGC when I was 8 years old and very quickly fell in love with the sport. Gymnastics was everything to me. The sport, my teammates and my coaches helped make me who I am today. Doing gymnastics for ten years, yes it gave me strength, flexibility, cool skills, balance and other physical bonuses, but it also changed my attitude about myself and about life. It has helped me outside of the gym in every area of my life. Being a gymnast at WGC taught me determination and to never give up. My coaches always believed in me, even when I didn't believe in myself and encouraged me to keep trying. They kept us positive even when skills were hard, or fear crept in. We were taught not to give into defeat and to always give our all. There were days that you didn't think you could do one more tumbling pass or another routine on bars, but somehow you always made it through and your confidence in yourself and what you could do would rise. Gymnastics taught me to work as a team and push each other, to focus and block everything else out, that no matter what anyone else says I can do it. It gave me time management and responsibility. As a competitive level 10 gymnast I was in that gym more than anywhere else and I had to be very responsible with the time I had outside to get homework done, do well in school and balance life as a teenager. These are skills that I used when I went to college, in the work force and in my every day life still. After doing a sport like gymnastics, even today I am aware of being healthy and the way I eat. Gymnastics builds your self-esteem and makes you confident in your self. It also gave me a support system of coaches that were always there. Every kid needs an adult they can trust and look up to besides their parents who are going to help guide them not only in gymnastics but with life and the coaches at WGC did just that for me, especially my senior year of high school. WGC was like my second family that helped mold me into the person I am today. Megan Crosby |
